The Methodist University
College is now eight years old and producing its fifth batch of
graduands. Results of our graduands have been encouraging so far.
Both academic and administrative staff has performed their duties
very conscientiously. Commitment of the Methodist church to this
noble institution has been very commendable.
Our teaching faculties have with effect from the 2007/2008 academic
year embarked on the following new courses: MBA (Accounting, Banking
and Finance, Human Resource Management and Marketing), Bsc. Mathematics
and Statistics, MPhil Mathematics, BA English, BA Religious Studies
and Ethics as well as BA French.
The faculty of Agriculture is also enrolling students to start
Diploma Programmes in General Agriculture and Horticulture as well
as Bsc. General Agriculture in the 2007/2008 academic year.
From a humble beginning with a student population of 80 in November,
2000 MUCG had 3,218 students in November, 2007. The ground floor
of the second phase of the faculty complex at the Dansoman Campus
has been completed. The floor will accommodate 800 students at lectures.
Land measuring 8.46 acres has been acquired along the Accra –
Tema motorway for the construction of a permanent Tema Campus of
the University College. Work will start soon.
The Methodist University College Scholarship Scheme is in operation.
Five students who benefited from the scheme last year have so far
completed their courses of study. Scholarship awards for eighteen
(18) students have been renewed for the 2007/2008 academic year.
Six (6) new applicants have also been awarded scholarship on the
scheme this year.
The university has launched a Five year Strategic Plan (2006–2011).
The purpose of the plan is to help attain the goals set out in the
vision and mission of the Methodist University College Ghana.
MUCG is envisioned as a University of distinction and upholds its
motto of Excellence, Morality, and Service. We produce intellectuals
with sound moral principles to impact society.
Thank you and God bless you.
