FACULTY OF SOCIAL STUDIES
 
The Faculty of Social Studies is one of the three Faculties that constitute Methodist University College Ghana. The Faculty currently offers five (5) degree programmes, two postgraduate programmes and a certificate programme in Information Technology. It’s programmes cover the following subject areas
 
• Economics
• Mathematics
• Statistics
• Information Technology
• Psychology
• Guidance and Counselling
 
The Faculty is made up of four (4) departments namely Economics, Mathematics-Statistics, Information Technology and Psychology.
 
DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS
The Department of Economics offers a BSc. Economics Degree and a combined BSc. Economics & Mathematics –Statistics degree. It also offers service courses in Economics at Levels 100 and 200 to all students of MUCG with exception of I.T. students.
 
DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS-STATISTICS
The Department has been running BSc. Economics & Mathematics degree since the 2007/2008 academic year. A BSc. Mathematics and Statistics degree and an M.Phil. Mathematics degree programme started during 2007/2008 academic year. In addition, the Department provides service courses to students of the Faculty of Business Administration and the Departments of Psychology and Economics.
The Department has obtained accreditation for an M.Phil. Statistics degree programme and has applied for accreditation for a BSc. Economics & Statistics degree programme.
 
DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Information Technology is currently running a BSc. Information Technology degree programme and a Certificate Course in Information Technology.
 
DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY

The Department runs a B.A. Psychology degree programme as well as M.A. and M.Phil. Guidance and Counselling degrees. Since the inception of the Department in the 2005/06 Academic year, the Department (then called a Unit) has seen a gradual but impressive increase in student and staff numbers. The Department has completed work on the establishment of a Counselling Centre for the University, which apart from counselling services, is overseeing the Peer counselling programme of the University.
