INTRODUCTION

The Faculty of Social Studies, established in the year 2000, is one of the four Faculties that constitute  Methodist University College Ghana.  The Faculty consist of the following four (4) Departments:

  • Economics
  • Information Technology
  • Mathematics and  Statistics
  • Psychology

The Economics Department runs the following three degree programmes:

  • BSc. Economics
  • BSc. Economics and Mathematics – Statistics (runs with the department of Mathematics and Statistics)
  • BSc. Economics and Statistics (runs with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics)

The Economics programmes are designed to equip students with a strong background in Economics to enable them to pursue post-graduate studies in Economics and related courses.

The Information and technology Department runs the following three programmes:

  • BSc degree in Information Technology
  • Diploma in Information Technology
  • Certificate in Information Technology

The IT programmes are designed to keep pace with continuously changing world of computers and internet base technologies, by providing an innovative mix of modern programmes and courses.

The Mathematics and Statistics Department runs the following five degree programmes:

  • BSc Mathematics and Statistics
  • BSc Economics and Mathematics – Statistics (runs with the Department of Economics)
  • BSc Economics and Statistics (runs with the Department of Economics)
  • MPhil Statistics
  • MPhil Mathematics

The Mathematics and Statistics programmes are designed to provide a strong background in Mathematics and Statistics to students who, on graduation, can provide specialist skill at problems solving in government agencies and private establishment.

The Psychology Department runs the following three degree programmes:

  • BA Psychology
  • MA Guidance and Counseling
  • MPhil Guidance and Counseling

The Psychology programmes are designed to assist student to acquire a better understanding of why people think and act as they do, and provide insight into individual attitude and reactions.
