Admission Requirements for Diploma Programmes 2011/2012
 
 
Diploma Programmes
 
     Diploma in General Agriculture


Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for admission to the above programme:

1. Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSCE/WASSCE)

Credit passes in the following SSSCE/WASSCE core subjects:

English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, and credit passes in two of the following SSSCE/WASSCE Elective subjects:· Biology/General Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, Elective Mathematics.

2. The Agricultural College Certificate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

3. Animal Health and Production Certificate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

4. The Post-Secondary Teacher’s Certificate (with options in Agriculture or Science).

5. Certificate in Agriculture from any recognized university.

The Diploma in General Agriculture has a duration of two (2) years.
         

 
    Diploma in Horticulture

 
Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for admission to the above programme:

1. Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSCE/WASSCE)

· Credit passes in the following SSSCE/WASSCE Core subjects:

    English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science.

· Credit passes in two of the following SSSCE/WASSCE Elective subjects:

Biology/General Agriculture; Chemistry; Physics; Elective Mathematics.

2. Agricultural College Certificate

The Agricultural College Certificate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

3. Animal Health and Production Certificate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

4. Post Secondary Teacher’s Certificate

The Post-Secondary Teachers’  (with options in Agriculture or Science).  

5. Certificate in Agriculture from any recognized University.

The Diploma in Horticulture programme has a duration of two (2) years.
 
  Diploma in Music

Applicants must possess one of the  following categories of qualifications and experience:              

Four (4) credit passes at the G.C.E. “O” Level including English Mathematics and Music. Four (4) credit passes at the SSSCE including English, Mathematics and Music.  

Four (4) credit passes at the G.C.E /SSSCE but without Music. Such applicants must pass an Entrance Examination and an interview.  Candidates with three (3) G.C.E credit passes and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Theory Grade 5 or above.  Such candidates will be examined and interviewed. 

Post-Secondary Teacher’s Certificate holders who also have ABRSM Theory Grade 5 or above.  These applicants must pass an Entrance Examination and an interview.   Mature applicants with Keyboard and Vocal skills, Choirmasters, Church Organists and Music Directors wishing to upgrade their music proficiency and to hone their skills must pass an Entrance Examination and an interview.  The minimum age for this category of applicants is Twenty-five (25) years. 

In the case of all WASSCE/SSSCE applicants, the aggregate score for the core and elective subjects must not be more than 24.
 
  Diploma in Information Technology
 
Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for admission to the above programme:

Category A:
Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSCE/WASSCE)
Applicants should have a Science background and should have credit passes in three(3) core subjects including
- English Language
- Mathematics and any Science Subject
- And three(3) elective subjects.

Category B:
Holders of One-Year I.T. Certificate and I.T. Professionals
Applicants must have their certificates from recognized tertiary institutions or N.A.B accredited institutions
with at least two (2) years post-qualification experience.

Category C:
Matured Applicants
Matured Applicants aged twenty-five(25) and above with Information Technology experience.

Category D
Other Professional qualification.
Other Professional qualifications from a recognized institution may be considered.

All categories of applicants may undergo a selection interview.
